It is pre-programmed to work with supported models when paired with the original receiver and requires no programming or setup.
This wall control is intended only for Minka-Aire DC ceiling fans that originally used the WC500 and will not operate AC motor fans or models that use handheld RF remotes. Installation requires a compatible fan and existing wiring; it is not a universal wall control.
