This receiver is pre-programmed from the factory and should install in the canopy with ease. 

Syncing instructions:

Turn off the main power, then turn it back on. Within 30 seconds, tap the "learn" key on the back of the remote control. Once, complete, the fan will start on the low speed with the light off.
